Shoreline Marathon routes

Full and Half Marathon

Start at the Emma Wood State Beach Group Campground then run along the bike path onto the Historic Old Rincon Highway along the Ventura Coast line. Enjoy stunning ocean views the whole way as you hit a turn around point at half way.

There are aid stations every 1.5 miles.

The marathon course is two loops of this course

5k and 10k course

This is the same as the marathon course but the turnaround points are at 2.5k and 5k, depending on which race you are doing.

Welcome to the 7th year of the the Shoreline Marathon. More than just a marathon - there are four different distances on offer (full marathon, half marathon, 10k, 5k) - this race is designed for anyone keen for a fun day out on the Ventura beachfront.

For those taking things more seriously, the is a Certified Boston Qualifier Course.

Emma Wood Group Campground - just past Emma Wood RV park at 800 W. Main St, Ventura CA 93001 (aka Seaside Wilderness park)

Race pack collection

This is where you collect your race bib/timing chip, goody bag and race swag. Race packs can be collected either on Saturday before the race (12-4pm) or on race day. If you are planning to collect on race day, please come early as there will be hundred of people trying

Volunteer duties include helping at the water station, finish line and post race expo cleanup.

Race start is at 7 am so you will need to arrive at 5:30 am to get in place for the race start. The event will end at about 12:30 pm.

Please arrive on time and report to the main checkin tent or main statge and ask for Bill Escobar (race director).

FAQs

How does a wave start work?

Wave starts are designed to reduce race start congestion and improve your race day running experience. In a wave start, runners start in groups at 2 minute intervals. This way you can run with others who are similar in speed. A wave start will allow you plenty of space along the course, at the aid stations and at the finish line, without affecting your chip time or the time you have to complete the race. On race day you will line up under / behind the banner that best fits your estimated running pace per mile.

Will there be port-o-potties along the course?

Yes: Porta Potties will be on the course about every 1.5 miles, free standing bathrooms at the park

Can I walk the course?

Yes: 7 hours to finish the marathon, that’s about 15minutes plus per mile. Sooo... walkers are welcome, stroller moms, and walking clubs.

Is the course accurately measured and marked?

Yes: This is a USATF Certified course.Cert #CA17064RS . Feel free to check it out on your own watch if you have time prior to the race. There will be mile markers on the course.

What, where, and when is Package pickup?

Saturday before the race - Noon to 4:pm Hypercat Racing 4160 Market ST #13 , Ventura CA 93003 You will be picking up your race bib number, timing chip, race day Tech t-shirt and other goodies in your bag from some of the race sponsors. This will be your last chance to register for this race, NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION.

Can I register for the race at the packet pick-up location?

YES...You can register for the race at the package pick-up there are NO Discounts Packet pickupand we only accept cash or credit cards, NO CHECKS. You can also register on line or by sending in the registration form. On line registration closes Friday at midnight.

Parking? ... Where do we park?

Parking at the starting line: There are approx 200 parking spaces at the campground /starting line and the fee is $10 per car. There is also free limited street parking just outside the campground

Free Athlete Shuttle: We will have an athlete shuttle to and from race start line at Promenade park at the corner of Figueroa and Shoreline drive from 5:30 am to 2 pm on race day.

Additional Parking

There are many open parking spaces in the business park next to Patagonia at 235 W. Santa Clara ST, Ventura CA 93001 ( Corner of West Main ST / South Olive ST) - Approx one mile from race start.

Can I pick up my race packet on race day? YES...you can pick up your race packet on race day, but we advise you to come early!! There may be hundreds of people doing the same and it may take a little time. We advise you to go to the packet pick-up Saturday before race day instead. Last minute check in on race day begins at 6:00 a.m. and ends at 6:45 a.m. There is NO race day registration.

Can I pick up someone else's race items if they cannot make it out on Saturday?

YES...you can pick up a friend or relatives items bring a note from them signed by them that you are picking up their number.

Can I transfer my registration to someone else?

Yes... Just send us an e-mail to [email protected] and we will workout the details. DO NOT give your number to anyone else and let them run in your place, they will be disqualified.

Will there be awards given out to the race winners?

YES...Awards will be given out to the top 3 male/ female finishers overall and 3 deep in each age group. Age groups are every 10 years up to 80+… Soooo... 0-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70- 74, 75-79, 80+. We will have some other cool swag for everyone else at the post race bib number call out.

Awards: Top 3 overall M/F in each race - Special Award Top 3 each age group M/F - ALL RACE DISTANCES

Any other cool stuff for all the rest of us?

YES of course... All runners receive : a finisher medal, tech shirt, water bottle and reusable goody bag.

Should I just follow someone?

NO: All athletes are required to know the entire course prior to stepping onto the starting line. Please study the race course map on this site, and maybe drive the course if you have time prior to race day.
