What better way to wrap up the fall running season than with a seaside marathon. This course will appeal to all types of runners, with a flat and fast path, ocean views, and only a few hills to keep you on your toes. Come for the views or the free tacos and beer at the end of the race.

Surfers Point Marathon, Half, 10k & 5k routes

Experience awe-inspiring ocean views and feel the cool breeze coming off the waves in this ocean-side running event. Runners can choose from 4 different race distances, and with the course being flat and fast, it truly is a perfect event for racers of all abilities.

All races will start and Emma Wood State Beach Group Campground and head north on bike paths up the Pacific Coast Highway. The whole race will be on ocean side of the road, providing runners with incredible views of sun-dappled waves for the entirety of the course. All races will also be out and back routes, with well-marked designated turning points for each distance. The Full Marathon will be two loops of the Half Marathon route.

The course is incredibly flat, which offers runners the perfect opportunity to set a new personal record, with full marathon runners even being provided the chance to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

After the race, celebrate your success in style with friends, family, and fellow runners with a free glass of beer (root beer for under-21 year olds) and a plate of street tacos at the post race expo.

It's a good idea to bring your own nutrition. They had water and Gatorade on course but no gels, or snacks.
  • Did the Marathon in 2018

This course is nice because it is relatively flat, although there are a few minor inclines to test the legs. I ran the marathon and the out and back (x2) format was a little difficult mentally but the cool ocean breeze and the ocean views made for a very nice race.
  • Did the Half Marathon in 2018

It was pretty much what i was expecting, it was exciting and fun
  • Did the Half Marathon in 2018

Enjoyed running along the water. The event organizers kept us updated on pertinent information on the race and all volunteers were friendly.
