I very much the run. I was dreading it because this is the first time I am part of a race alone and hadn't done for 13 years. But I loved it and despite the achy legs, I was already thinking about doing another one. lol

Beautiful location. Easy to get to although signage was not great once you got to the key places in Henley. Easy to get race numbers and really useful pre race talk. The route itself was enjoyable. It was a nice mix of path, trail, grass and stone which made it challenging but not overly hard. The hills and inclines from mile 9 were quite hard and maybe could have been incorporated more evenly for the half route. Not keen on the double back as this meant runners going both out and back which led to a need to stop at times. Brilliant water and fuel stops and an abundance of gels available. It seems that every half has the longest last 2 miles that seems to go on forever! Very nice post race water and snacks in good amounts. Simplistic beverage service that meant a quick turnaround post race which was great. WellOrganised and marshalled. There was a potential to take a wrong turn at some points but not a significant issue. I really enjoyed this and would recommend if you want a small challenge but not a beast of a half of 10k.

Henley is a nice place to run but generally wasnt impressed with the following elements of the race:That the 10k race started just behind the half marathon so 1.5 miles in they all came charging past on a narrow path and we were told to keep out of their way. That there was an out and back section and again the quicker runners had to try to get past us on a narrow path (probably more annoying for them than us)Sign posting was a bit irregularSome of the sections of road werent properly marshalled (I.e. Marshall not helping us across the road through fairly heavy traffic)Part at the end on the path along the river - too busy, race would have been better going in the opposite direction - had to contend with many cyclists, dog walkers, families etcUnfortunately would not do it again for these reasons.

The postcode given didnt take you to the event, took you 10mins past it. The course was advertised to me as A mostly flat 10K course there were some very steep hills and it was on mixed terrain too, which there was no pre warning of. No sign posts to get to the event, lots down other roads for 20mins trying to find parking?? It seemed very unorganised when we arrived with children directing cars where to park (Unsafe). Meant to start at 9:35 and we spent from 9:30 to about 9:40 watching th start of the Half Marathon? We were also walked away from the start and just left all standing around and for somebody who hasnt done this event before I had no idea what was going on. Quite a few people thought something was wrong? The race briefing was pointless.. talking about signposts, this is a 10k event, saying we are waiting for the half marathon runners to go through the red barrier before we can start, drinks meant to be at 4K and 6k, were at about 2k and 4K then nothing. I asked at the first station how far Please? She said this is 4K well done Then next drinks station there was a small sign saying 4K, 10K event. ?!Left the event feeling frustrated and fed up. Sorry but, I wouldnt run this event again and wouldnt recommend it to a friend.
