Terrain Mountain trails
Traverse the infamous West Highlands and enter a world of sheer fantasy during this 3-day event covering 125k. This fantastic mountainous route will not only challenge you but also reward you with fantastic scenery.
There will be plenty of climbing throughout this multi-stage race so make sure to take in the breathtaking scenery all around. Sights include the spectacular sea lochs of Nevis and Hourn, 85 square miles of rocky mountains and majestic glens.
In this isolated location reachable only by foot or by sea, you can spot local wildlife - from eagles above to magnificent herds of red deer and otters and dolphins along the coastline.
This is the ultimate ultra running adventure, which you can conquer individually or enter in teams of 2-4 people.
Stage 1: Heaven to Hell - 47-50k
The first stage will start off hilly in the village of Inverie, on the north side of Loch Nevis. You will set off taking the coastal road northwest. With the village having a total population of 111, this road will be quiet, so enjoy immersing yourself in the fantastic countryside and scenery. This stage will include river crossings, 5.5k of climbing, and some descents.
Then you will take in the mountains and great lochs. There will be a 7k climb up from sea level reaching a total of 440m above. Finally, you will finish on a 9k single-track trail which will lead you to the Kinloch Houm campsite to rest.
Stage 2: Kinloch Hourn - 42-48k
At this stage, you will leave the Kinloch Hourn campsite taking the route off Knoydart and immediately begin to climb. There will be some pathless sections, river crossings, and mountainous passes that will take your breath away. You will then begin to head towards the campsite, keeping your eyes peeled for eagles and red deer.
Stage 3: Lunnie Bheinn - 25-28k
If the weather permits, you will begin the route at sea level and summit one or two of the Munro mountains, including the Lunnie Bheinn mountain. Finally, from the 940m summit, you will begin to descend to the finish line in Inverie. If the weather does not permit, an alternative route will be provided along some more hidden paths.
