Did the 75-100 Miles in 2021
My first time at this great event, I'll definitely be back next year. Easy parking right by the start line. Great atmosphere at the start with music and super friendly people handing out the chip pack and seeing you on your way. The course is great. The occasional v short spell on a moderately busy road to connect you back to a quiet, scenic road. If you choose the 100 mile route watch out carefully for the start of the three loops which are signposted in different colours. This is where most of the tough climbs are.Cracking atmosphere at the finish and a free burger too! This sportif deserves a lot more riders - it's excellent… read more

Did the 75-100 Miles in 2021
I've done this three times before (2017-19), but it was significantly off the boil this year. Given the advertised 7am start, there was a shambles when I arrived shortly after that. No organised start announcements / safety briefing as usual. At the top of each hill, there's supposed to be a volunteer handing out wrist bands to show that you've done the hills, none of them were there when I went past. 4/4 failures on that front. Two of the three feed stations had no 'proper' food, apart from energy drinks & gels. No bananas, or flapjacks, etc. And communication prior to the event was completely absent as well - no rider pack notification, no mention of pre-registration. And finally, the 'medal' is just a pin, and the usual lanyard showing the number of climbs completed (should be 1-4) was botched as well - they didn't have any 4s, so I got given a 3. Needless to say it's already in the bin. Clearly the epidemic had an impact, but the lack of communication & advertising led to a substantially reduced field, making the ride largely a solo effort for me. Given that there was a substantial price increase this year, I'm going to think twice about paying to do this again. … read more
