Route description
Route description

Covering 115KM and climbing a total of 5,825ft, the ROC is a challenge to be contended with for any budding endurance athlete. Find out more about this once-in-a-lifetime race that tracks from sea level to the peak of Wales highest mountain, and back again.

Swim 1500m:

This epic challenge begins at Abersoch Beach where athletes will swim out toward Tudwal's West Island, round a buoy and then swim parallel to the beach to SCYC. From here, you will round two more buoys before heading back to the beach.

The transition will be a 50m run up the beach.

Cycle 50KM (out):

Get ready for your first cycle stage - this 50KM route out toward Snowdon will take you along scenic, quick open road sections as well as formidable technical sections.

Snowdon Run (6KM each way):

The Watkin Path is arguably the most scenic route to climb Snowdon and boasts an immense history. The ascent is nicely progressive and will culminate in a steep scree section close to the summit.

Once at the summit, take in the epic panoramic views before a rapid descent of the course.

**Cycle 50KM (back):

A final 50KM cycle will take you back to Abersoch, with plenty of open roads and epic views along the way.

Beach Run 1KM:
**
You've made it, this final 1KM run will be the glory lap along Abersoch Beach and you will cross the finish line in style.

THE ROC Mini Trail:

Kicking-off before the return of the ROC competitors, this mini trail will head out along the sand towards Bwlchtocyn, through the sand dunes and onto lots of tracks that wind through the golf course, along bridle paths up steep trails and back down again round to Abersoch beach to the finish.

Runners will experience the same exhilaration as the ROC competitors when the cross the stunning beach finish line.

Address: Abersoch, Pwllheli LL53, 7EF

Car: Abersoch is located at the western edge of North Wales, on the Llyn Peninsula.

The best route from the South or the Midlands is to head toward Birmingham and then take the A458/A470/A487 to the Llyn peninsula and finally the A497 to Abersoch.

From the North, it is best to enter Wales via Chester and then take the A55/A487 to the Llyn Peninsula and then the A499/A497 until Abersoch.

Train: The closest railway station is Pwllheli, which is around a 15 minute drive to Abersoch. Trains run from London and take around 7 hours, however it'll be well worth it as you take in some of Wales' best scenery.
